The Abbotsford
Olympians Swim Club (AOSC) is Abbotsford’s only year-round
swim club. We are the only
Swim
BC
,
Swimming Canada and FINA affiliated club in Abbotsford.
We provide
swimming and life skills for children five to eighteen years old
based out of the
Matsqui
Recreation
Center
located at
3106 Clearbrook Road
in
Abbotsford.
AOSC
sets itself apart from other programs with professionally certified
and experienced coaches, a balanced long-term development approach
to swimming, and as a great place to meet and make new friends
in a co-ed environment.
AOSC
first began operating in January of 2004 with offering two
recreational programs - "Olympic Way" and "Stroke Improvement and
Conditioning".
In 2006, AOSC
offered its first competitive program named "Regional Group" -
a program intended for eight to ten year olds swimmers to
achieve their regional qualifying times.
In 2007, AOSC
expanded to a six-day week schedule and offered a "Provincial
Group" whose purpose was to qualify swimmers for AA and AAA
Provincial-Level competitions.
AOSC
is fully associated with its sister club the Langley Olympians Swim
Club (LOSC). Together at major competitions the two clubs
combine resources and swim as L/A OSC (Langley/Abbotsford Olympians
Swim Club).
L/A
OSC consistently places in the top five teams in the British
Columbia. Also in L/A OSC has top ranked swimmers in
Canada .
In 2008, Jake Tapp (LOSC) qualified for the
Canadian Olympic Team and is heading to the 2008 Beijing Olympic
Games.
It is the goals of AOSC to have everyone
strive for personal excellence and achive their personal
best. One day AOSC may have someone achieve their dream of
going to the Olympics, but we belive that everyone can benefit
from the pursuit of excellence, regardless of their level of
swimming.
“In Pursuit of
Olympian Excellence.”
